Is Harbor Country hot, or what?
July 17, 2005, Harbert, MI. Harbor Country is hot, and we don’t mean the weather. The real estate market is exploding with activity. The majority of the housing is aimed squarely at the second homeowner and investor. Among the options that include cottages, condos and town homes, one project truly stands apart from the crowd, The Vineyard Lofts.
Drivers along Red Arrow Highway only need to glance to notice the latest in the dramatic renovation of the former winery located at 13595 Red Arrow Hwy., into luxury residential lofts. The towering structure will contain 5 of the 14 contemporary loft/condos that average over 2000sq/ft each. Unique open floor plans feature master suites, lofted bedrooms and large great rooms with ceiling heights up to 20 ft. Many interesting features of the original winery including the concrete vats, used in the winemaking process, are being preserved and incorporated into select units. Outside, private courtyards, terraces and rooftop decks complement the beautifully landscaped grounds. Standard whole-house networking and optional home automation packages complete the project that the developer calls “the ultimate in contemporary living.” Surprisingly, thirteen of the fourteen units are desirable corner units. Prices are between $329,000 and $599,000
Already completed lofts in the Bordeaux region are available for viewing weekends from 1-4pm. Sales manager, Eileen Kochanny, comments that “people are surprised and amazed when they see how cool the completed lofts have turned out”. This great, maintenance-free, turn-key option is an appealing way to live and enjoy the area without all the work of a house or cottage.
Built in the late 1920’s the building has been home to many wineries over the years and has had several additions to the original structure as the businesses flourished. The final winery ceased operations in 1989 and the property has since seen limited use. While the current owner, LePin Development, purchased the property with commercial use in mind, project manager Richard Kochanny states, “ It wasn’t until we started to explore the structure that we began to appreciate the many interesting spaces and elevations the building incorporated.” Before long it became clear that the space would make ideal loft living space, plans were laid out and Vineyard Lofts were born.
The 2.57-acre Vineyard Lofts project is aiming to fill a gap in the local housing market between high maintenance cottage/ homes and conventional condominium developments. Sales associate, Jack Richards, sums it up best by pointing out “Low maintenance options are few and far between. Best of all, these homes have great design, are located near the beach in desirable Harbert, and is the best new construction value in all of Harbor Country.”
Pre-construction sales are now under way for remaining units of this one of a kind project. For more information stop by and see the model located at 13595 Red Arrow Highway, weekends 1-4pm, weekdays by appointment, call 269.469.0118, or visit www.vineyardlofts.com.
